Bucket List Dream Trip to the Best of Chile, Valle Nevado & Portillo Dates to be Determined Due to Covid-19.
Yeah skiing in the summer is cool, we do that at Mt Hood, but in Chile it's full on winter, it's the Andes and it's 1.5 hours up from the grapes of Santiago. Skiing in S. America is more than just a ski trip, it's a bucket list and if you're going to do it than you have to hit Portillo and Valle Nevado.
We've been talking about this trip for a long time and although we have sent many folks to Termas De Chilan - 6 hours to the south, we always wanted to go to the romantic resorts, the ones you hear stories about, the ones people say you gotta go... so here it is.
We're flying into Santiago jumping in a van and heading up the windy road that would never pass code in N. America and checking into the Valle Nevado 1.5 hours later and 8,000 feet higher than when we started. It's going to be ski in ski out with a couple nice meals a day and lunch on the hill with pisco sours.
After 4 days of Skiing Valle D, La Parva and maybe El Colorado we will head down to Santiago to spend the night. The next morning we will head out to one of the most famous wineries in Chile for a tour and lunch, with the Andes looming over us. That afternoon with bellies full we will head back up to Portillo and the big yellow cruise ship in the Andes.
Portillo is world famous. The yellow hotel, the lake, the classic chutes, Tio Bobs for lunch on the hill and the famous pool parties... we will soak it all in. We're set for 4 days of skiing, side country, hiking, or just cruising around - its all an option. Then there is the Thursday Portillo Sun Cup fun race for all the hotel guests - will the ADL take the crown? We don't know but were looking forward to an amazing week of winter in summer - join us!
